TIPS & SKILLS

Shoe Choice

A suitable shoe makes a huge difference.

A good footbag shoe should have:

  • A wide, flat toe box
  • A broad, flat inside surface
  • Lightweight, flexible construction
  • Good grip without an excessively thick sole
  • Secure fit and room for ankle movement
  • Minimal raised seams around the kicking surfaces

For casual play, a light indoor-court, tennis or skate shoe with these qualities will work well. Avoid bulky running shoes with heavily sculpted soles, narrow toes or thick cushioning.

How a shoe is laced can significantly improve its performance for freestyle.
Here’s a video about lacing a shoe for freestyle.
